Gene was married to Linda Heskett on July 26, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.

Also surviving are three children: Patricia Reed of Hannibal, MO, Stephanie Whaley (Brian) of Hannibal, MO and Jennifer Breedlove (Alex Dooley) of St. Peters, MO; 2 step children: Tonia Fisher (Steve) and Lori Flynn (Chris); 5 grandchildren: Lauren Breedlove, Khelsea Reed, Samantha Reed, Kaitlyn Whaley and Devin Whaley, 6 step grandchildren: Justin Fisher, Lance Flynn, Daryan Fisher,Levi Flynn, Chandler Boshears and Hania Flynn; three great grandchildren: Scarlett, Silas, and Amelia; two sisters: Verna Carlin of Michigan and Carol Fulton of Moberly; one brother, Harold Breedlove of Guatemala; three sisters in law: Cheryl Totten (Lloyd), Debbie (Ronnie Smith) and Edna Shrum (John). Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

Gene attended Hannibal High School and later served his country proudly in the United States Army for three years. Gene also served as a Military Policeman in Korea and many other locations. Gene later joined the Burlington Northern Railroad as a bridge foreman and retired from the railroad after 32 ½ years of service. Over the years Gene has been an active member of the Burlington Northern Alumni, Local Chapter #13, serving as past president for both the chapter and the district area.

Gene was a nature lover. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fishing and visiting nature preserves and state parks. Gene loved to travel and drive the open road, often traveling for days to reach his destination. Sprint car racing, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and cheering for whatever NFL football team was playing the Washington Redskins were a few of Gene’s favorites.

Most of all, Gene loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed reminiscing about his experiences in the Army and his worldwide travels throughout Europe. Quick witted and always ready with a joke, Gene never missed an opportunity to tease someone he cared about. For this many will always remember Gene for his smile and pleasant conversation.

Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post #55 of Hannibal, MO.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Breedlove’s grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Pancan.org for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Please keep Gene’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Staci
